Bullet pierces Myanmar plane, hits passenger


A passenger on board a Myanmar National Airlines’ domestic flight suffered facial injuries when a bullet pierced the cabin of the plane as it prepared to land in Loikaw, the capital of eastern Kayah state. The flight had 63 passengers on board, Al Jazeera reports. The bullet was reportedly shot from the ground and hit the passenger in mid-air.

Myanmar government spokesman Major General Zaw Min Tun said on Saturday the passenger had been treated in hospital and described the attack on the plane as “a military crime, a criminal act”. Global new light of Myanmar news broadcast.

The Junta The government has promised to take “serious action” against the rebels, adding that the bullet damaged the plane’s fuselage.

The sun reported that the plane was flying at an altitude of 3,500 feet and about four miles north of the airport. After the incident, Myanmar National Airlines’ office in Loikaw announced that all flights to the city have been canceled indefinitely.

A report from the mirror suggests that the Myanmar government has accused rebels in Kayah state of firing at the plane. Rebel groups denied the charges.

Kayah has faced major conflict between the Junta and local resistance groups since the military took power last year and overthrew the democratically elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi.
