Dale Steyn has his thoughts on Jasprit Bumrah’s replacement in Indian T20 World Cup team

India in T20 World Cup 2022: Jasprit Bumrah, the star player of the Indian cricket team, has been banned from joining the Indian T20 World Cup squad due to issues with the World Cup, but the BCCI has still not announced that he will be replaced for the tournament. Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar are considered the frontrunners to replace Bumrah in the upcoming World Cup.

At the moment, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team has arrived in Australia, but neither Shami nor Chahar are part of the 15-man squad. Both seamen have been selected in the team as reserve/reserve players. It is reported that Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar will most likely leave for Australia on October 12.

Meanwhile, former South African pace bowler Dale Steyn has made a big statement about who can replace Bumrah for World Cup T20 2022. The legendary bowler believes that if Mohammed Shami is fit, he should replace Bumrah in India’s T20 WC squad.

“It’s a difficult one. You can hope that the World Cup gives someone the chance to be better than they sometimes are. They perform much better than they normally would. So whoever takes their place, I hope that will be the case for them. Whoever gets selected, you probably want them up their game by a small percentage because of the gap they’re filling. Someone like Bumrah, it’s so hard to fill his place. He is such a world class player. India will miss him greatly in this World Cup,” Steyn said on the Star Sports show ‘Cricket Live’.

Former Indian batter Sanjay Bangar also shared his opinion on this. This is what he said…

“There were really small signs of concern because when Jasprit Bumrah didn’t play the first game he played the second game and then suddenly he was rested. You suddenly start to think if this is serious because he was on rest and rehab for a long time and he was someone who was given a job to bolster it comes as a huge blow because an Indian attack without Jasprit Bumrah means a lot of teams are going to think differently about how they would approach their shot against the Indian bowling attack So a huge blow for India, but again, in sport, the loss of one is an opportunity for the other. Hopefully a Deepak Chahar or Shami or Arshdeep can be there and make a mark at the World Cup Down Under,” said Bangar.
