Delhi Weather Update: Precipitation in the Capital; temperature drop further

New Delhi: Delhiites woke up Sunday morning to cold weather after heavy rains ravaged the national capital late into the night and all through Saturday. The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rainfall over and adjacent areas of isolated places in South, Southeast Delhi and NCR.

However, due to incessant rains, Delhi is seeing severe flooding in several parts of the national capital including Anand Vihar, Wazirabad, the stretch of road between the INA market and the AIIMS, Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, Tughlakabad, Sangam Vihar, Kirari, Rohtak Road, Vikas Marg, near Zakhira, Najafgarh, Mahipalpur and Rangpuri, according to civilian and PWD officials.

Despite the inconveniences of flooding and traffic congestion, the weather service stated that the constant rain improved air quality with Air Quality Index (AQI) at 37:00 at 6:40 PM, placing it in the “good” category.

The maximum temperature was 23.4 degrees Celsius, 10 degrees lower than normal, according to the weather department, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 20.8 degrees Celsius.

According to the IMD, all 12 stations in the national capital have had moderate rain today, which is expected to ease by Sunday, but the sky will remain hazy. However, the weather department has not issued a warning or warning for Delhi. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), it will be a cloudy day with mild to moderate showers in most parts of the city.

“The highest and minimum temperatures would be about 24 and 21 degrees Celsius,” an IMD official told the media.

The IMD, which relieved the Delhiites, told the media that Delhi will see no more significant rainfall from Oct. 10, but drizzle or light rain may fall.

“Delhi got mainly moderate rainfall today. Safdarjung and Lodhi Road registered 25mm of rain while Palam area received only 4mm of rain today. But all 12 stations in Delhi got rain today. Rain fell after that and from morning till morning. 2:00 pm “There was about 15mm of rain over Safdarjung and this moderate rainfall will continue today. No warning has been issued. It will probably decrease from tomorrow, but the sky remains cloudy. From October 10, there will be no more significant rain, drizzle or light rain.” RK Jenamani, scientist, IMD told the media. The scientist also stated that the premature rainfall is occurring in northern India due to the interaction between western disturbances in the middle and upper troposphere.
