DNA Exclusive: Story of India’s First Train Running in the Maoist Bastion Chhattisgarh. drives

The first passenger train ran in India on April 16, 1853, but even after 75 years of independence, many areas of India are without rail connection. Mostly the areas that are strongholds of Naxalites, one such area is Bastar in Chhattisgarh. Last month, a train started running between Kewti and Antagarh, the worst hit area by Naxal in the North Bastar area of Chhattisgarh after 75 years of independence. It will connect more than 100 villages in Bastar and Kanker districts directly to the capital Raipur.

In today’s DNA, Rohit Ranjan of Zee News will analyze the success story of India’s first train to be operated at Chattisgarh’s Naxal Bastion after 75 years of independence.

The tracks on which this train runs in these dense forests between Kanker and Bastar. Those tracks were laid by uprooting the shadow of fear from Naxalites. It is not that there has never been an attempt to run a passenger train on this route. But the Naxalites have so far not allowed the train to reach this area.

The Naxalites did their best to stop this train. Sometimes the spores were uprooted. Sometimes he threatened people. Sometimes the material used for laying the track was set on fire.

This journey of the train in the lair of Naxalites does not end in Antagarh. Preparations to run the train to Abujhmad in the dense forests of Bastar are now in full swing.

The train passing through these forests will reach Raoghat, a station being built in the middle of the forests of Abujhmad, where a wealth of minerals is buried. The introduction of trains in the stronghold of Naxalites is not only limited to passenger trains, but also to freight trains.

The railway has not only opened the doors of the world to the people of Bastar, but also paved the way for the economic development of Bastar.

A great credit for the railway project goes to the jawans of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), who are committed to the safety of this railway project by staying in the stronghold of Naxalites. If this rail project is completed despite the threats from Naxalites, then SSB will also have a major role to play.
