Explained: Why is Twitter’s new ‘Edit Option’ feature not available to Indian users?


New Delhi: Microblogging site Twitter has announced that it is rolling out the ‘Edit button’ to Twitter Blue subscribers. The feature is not accessible to Indian users as Twitter Blue subscription is not available in India. Twitter posted a tweet on Oct. 3 informing users that it was now rolling out the edit button to Twitter Blue members in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. It added that the test regarding the edit button, which was conducted from September 30 to October 2. In addition, the editing option will soon be rolled out in the United States as well, but no specific time frame has been given.

Indian Twitter users will have to wait longer to get the feature. Twitter Blue subscription is not available in India as of now.

What is the Edit Twitter option?

Twitter now allows users to edit their tweets, which was previously impossible. However, the tweet mentions the time at the bottom when the last edit takes place. In addition, users can see the full history of the operation to check what was written in the tweet before.

What is Twitter Blue?

Twitter Blue is the platform’s monthly subscription-based membership programs in select countries such as Canada, United States, New Zealand, and Australia. Blue members have a number of additional benefits, including premium features such as the option to edit tweets.

Twitter is testing ‘Status’ indicators

Twitterati have a hard time sharing their emotions with a limit of 240 characters. To provide some relief, Twitter is working on its new ‘Status’ indicators. They will be a mix of trending sayings and popular activities. Users can use them to highlight or display the context of their posts as they appear above the posts. However, users cannot create their own status. They have to choose from the list.

Status indicators would also be searchable, where users can tap a status indicator, which will redirect you to a list of all tweets that have applied the same activity.
