Gwalior airport has modern facilities in the new terminal, will be built at Rs 450 crore


Union Home Minister Amit Shah opened a new chapter for Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh and laid the foundation stone for the development of a new terminal at Gwalior Airport earlier today. The new terminal building will be built on 20,000 square meters, six times the surface area of ​​the existing terminal. Equipped with four passenger bridges, the terminal will be designed to handle 1,400 passengers during peak hours with an annual throughput of 1.5 million. According to the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the expansion works of the Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Terminal of Gwalior Airport will be carried out at a cost of Rs 450 crore.

“Taking into consideration the increasing passenger numbers at Gwalior Airport, the Airports Authority of India has undertaken the expansion works of Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Terminal of Gwalior Airport at a cost of Rs 450 crore. The expansion project involves construction of the new terminal building with all modern facilities and upgrades to airside facilities,” AAI said in a statement.

Speaking at the meeting, Union Minister of Interior and Cooperation Amit Shah said: “Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Airport in Gwalior is one of the most modern airports with the latest facilities. With the dedication with which this airport has been carefully planned, I believe it will be one of the best airports in the country.” “Under Prime Minister Modi, there has been tremendous infrastructure development in the country.

Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia said in his speech: “The development and progress in the state would not have been possible without the efforts of BJP and Interior Minister Amit Shah”, adding: “In the future, the cargo terminal and the aero bridge are being built in Madhya Pradesh.”

Gwalior Airport will have the following modern facilities in the new terminal:

-Spread over 143 hectares, the new terminal building of Gwalior Civil Enclave will be constructed on 20,000 square meters, which is six times more than the area of ​​the existing terminal.

-Equipped with four passenger bridges, the terminal will be designed to handle 1,400 passengers during peak hours with an annual throughput of 1.5 million.

-The newly developed terminal will have facilities to park nine Airbus-320 and four ATR-72 aircraft types, the AAI reports.

– New airport terminal will be an energy efficient building with several sustainability features, including double insulated roof system, double wall insulated wall panel, rainwater harvesting to replenish the water table and a sewage treatment plant to improve the use of recycled water for landscaping.

-After the commissioning of the 2.5 MW solar power plant, this airport will run on green energy. The terminal is designed to integrate the cultural heritage and folk art of Madhya Pradesh, creating a sense of place for the visitors, the AAI statement said.

The AAI said: “The development of a new airport terminal will boost the region’s tourism industry and generate new employment opportunities. The city also has great potential as it develops as a regional education center serving thousands of people every day. attracts students. year. Gwalior is also one of the 100 cities selected to be developed as Smart Cities.”
