Hrithik Roshan cuts black wire from his wrist post ‘Vikram Vedha’ release, says ‘Time to let go’

Mumbai: Like many celebrities, actor Hrithik Roshan also believes in following a certain ritual, especially during the release of his films.

On Monday, Hrithik, who is currently basking in the success of ‘Vikram Vedha’, took to Instagram and opened up about how he detaches himself from any character that ‘fears’ him by wearing a red or black sacred thread.

The clip shows him cutting his black thread with scissors with fitness equipment in the background. Explaining the meaning of the thread, Hrithik wrote: “Time to let go. I don’t know exactly when I started this. Or even why. But I realized today that I’ve been doing this in secret for every character that scared me.” Usually it’s a red mauli (kabir wore that) and sometimes a black thread. I can’t even remember when I started this. Was it kaho na pyaar hai? Or koi mil gaya or much later? (I have to go back and check my wrists or neck in those movies) because it’s never planned. Vedha got it in dress rehearsals and became it. Kabir got it at the War Mahurat Pooja and I made it a part of him. I think I do because it physically anchors the commitment I make to myself before I begin. A secret pact between me and myself.’

Hrithik said that the ritual of cutting the thread has always been confusing and he tried after Vedha, but it didn’t work. He added: “The ritual of cutting it is always confusing. For vedha, I tried when my shoot was over, but it didn’t work, when my dub was over, but again I couldn’t. And then I finally did it then the question I asked myself had a satisfying answer “Have I given this all I had?” “Can I do more?” – it is a question that scares me, drives me and keeps me looking for more.Vedha has been an amazing journey Through him I have learned to be at peace with my shortcomings Fearless and insolent I will always be grateful to my directors and writers Pushkar and Gayatri for creating this opportunity Thank you Vedha I let it go . With love and gratitude.”
