‘I feel elated yet humbled,’ Ajay Devgn says of winning Best Actor at the National Awards

Mumbai: Bollywood star Ajay Devgn, who was honored on Monday with a National Award for Best Actor for his work in ‘Tanhaji’, shared that the honor is great because it comes from a wider demographic.

Ajay shared in a statement that he is “humbled and honored to win two national awards” for ‘Tanhaji-The Unsung Warrior’, which will mark his 100th film, “one as producer of best picture and one as best actor”.

“I also share the Best Actor award with Suriya, whose cinema I like and respect.” The superstar shared that this is his “third Best Actor win”.

“I feel elated yet humbled every time this happens. The National Award is important because it comes from a wider demographic and it represents Indian cinema, embracing cultural and language barriers. And it has an inclusive audience.”

“Tanhaji was my 100th film. And it made an impression because it spoke of courage, friendship, family and national fervor. I thank Om Raut, the director and the whole technical team. Not to mention my co-actors, Saif Ali Khan and Kajol, who were both pitch-perfect in the film.”

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is directed by Om Raut. It follows the life of Maratha warrior Tanaji Malusare, with Ajay as the eponymous protagonist, Kajol and Saif Ali Khan.

Set in the 17th century, the film revolves around Tanaji’s attempts to retake the Kondhana Fort once it has been handed over to Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, who hands over control to his trusted guard Udaybhan Singh Rathore.
