Kangana Ranaut pays tribute to Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birthday

New Delhi: On the occasion of the birthday of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, actor Kangana Ranaut shared a video on social media in tribute to the leader.

The ‘Queen’ actor took to her Instagram handle remembering former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and shared the throwback video of his speech. She shared the video, she wrote, Remembering former Prime Minister of India, Bharat Ratna Lal Bahadur Shastri ji on his birthday. #LalBahadurShastri.”

Born in 1904 in Uttar Pradesh, Lal Bahadur Shastri was India’s second Prime Minister and served from 1964 to 1966. He died in Tashkent on January 11, 1966, at the age of 61, shortly after the signing of the Tashkent Pact with Pakistan .

Paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 153rd birthday, Prime Minister Modi tweeted: “This Gandhi Jayanti is even more special because India features Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. May always live up to Bapu’s ideals. I also urge you to buy Khadi and handicraft products in tribute to Gandhi Ji.”

He added: “Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji is admired across India for his simplicity and determination. His tough leadership at a very pivotal time in our history will always be remembered. Tribute to him on his Jayanti.”

“Today on Shastri Ji’s Jayanti, I am also sharing some glimpses of his gallery in Delhi’s Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, which showcases his life journey and achievements as Prime Minister. Visit the museum,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Kangana will next be seen directed by director Sarvesh Mewara ‘Tejas’. In the film, Ranaut will play the role of an Air Force pilot. The official release date is still pending. Apart from that, she also has the historical drama ‘Emergency’ in which she will portray the role of the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. ‘Emergency’ marks Kangana’s first solo directing film.

Apart from Kangana, the film also casts Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhry, Vishak Nair and Shreyas Talpade in prominent roles. The official release date of the film is still pending.
