Karnataka: Dalit Sena warns if Ravan effigy burns, Ram’s effigy will also go up in flames – Read here

karnataka: There was a high vigil in the Kalaburgi district of Karnataka on Dussehra day on Wednesday after the Dalit Sena’s announcement that if the effigy of Ravan is burned, the effigy of Lord Ram would also be set on fire. The Dalit Sena opposes the organization of the Ravan dahan program in which the effigy of Ravan would be burned on the occasion of the Vijaya Dashami (Dussehra)

Police said Hindu groups staged the burning of a 15-meter-tall Ravan effigy at the premises of the Appa Jatra Grounds in Kalaburagi.

Dalit organizations have objected to this, claiming that the program is being held without authorization from the authorities. They have further warned that they will burn the effigy of Ram if Hindu activists burn the effigy of Ravan.

In the face of strong resistance, Hindu organizations have dropped the program of burning Ravan’s effigy and will be celebrating other rituals.
