Noida schools to remain closed on Monday amid heavy rainfall

Noida: All schools in Noida and Greater Noida in Gautam Buddh Nagar will remain closed on Monday due to excessive rainfall, according to an official order. The closure will apply to all classes up to and including 12th and to all schools across the board, in the order listed.

“Due to excessive rain in the district and in view of the possibility of excessive rain, the district magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar has declared a public holiday on October 10 (Monday) in the government semi-government supported and unassisted schools of all administrations operating from grades 1 to 12 of the district,” said district school inspector Dharamveer Singh.

“Therefore, all principals and school principals must ensure that the order is complied with,” Singh said in the order issued late Sunday night.

Continued rain caused temperatures in Gautam Buddh Nagar to drop nearly 10 degrees this weekend, and 25mm of rain fell in the district until Sunday morning, according to IMD figures.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) also issued an orange warning on Sunday regarding heavy to very heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning for western areas of Uttar Pradesh and asked authorities to remain vigilant for Monday as well.
