‘Not suitable for son of Gujarat’: BJP’s Sambit Patra slams Kharge’s Ravan’ comment on PM Modi

NEW DELHI: BJP spokesman Sambit Patra has criticized Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge for comparing Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ‘Ravan’. Patra claimed on Tuesday that such language is not suitable for the ‘son of Gujarat’. He further said, “It is reprehensible and shows the mindset of the Congress. It is an insult not only to Prime Minister Modi. It is an insult to every Gujarati, to Gujarat.” Kharge, addressing a public gathering in Gujarat when he made this statement, had likened Prime Minister Modi to ‘Ravan’ as he said “he is visible in every election.”

Today was the last day of campaigning for the first phase of the Gujarat Assembly polls.

Bharatiya Janata party chairman JP Nadda and union minister Smriti Irani will campaign on Tuesday in Bhavnagar and Gandhidham (Kutch district) respectively for the BJP candidates contending in the first phase.

One of the notable candidates in the first stage is Isudan Gadhvi, the chief ministerial face of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), who is fighting from the Khambhalia seat in Devbhumi Dwarka district. Former Gujarat minister Parshottam Solanki, six-time MLA Kunwarji Bavaliya, Morbi ‘hero’ Kantilal Amrutiya, Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s wife Rivaba and Gujarat AAP president Gopal Italia are also among the prominent candidates fighting for the first phase of the elections for the state assembly.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Nadda and other BJP leaders have already held rallies to rally support for their party candidates fighting in the first phase.

Arvind Kejriwal, the national organizer of AAP and the chief minister of Delhi, has also campaigned extensively for his party candidates and has made a raft of promises to the people of Gujarat if his party takes power in the state, which has been Ruled by the BJP for 27 years.

From the Congress, the President Mallikarjun Kharge and the Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot were among the prominent campaigners for their party nominees.
