History and Significance of Kullu Dussehra

The Kullu Dussehra in Himachal Pradesh is a week-long festival celebrated in October, it is a special occasion and an opportune time to witness different shades of the valley’s vibrant culture.

However, the Kullu Dussehra is distinctly different from the rest of the country as the week-long festival starts on the day it ends elsewhere. Begun in the 17th century, the tradition was established when Raja Jagat Singh installed an idol of Lord Raghunath brought from Ayodhya in the palace temple at Kullu.
