Rahul Gandhi ties mother Sonia’s shoelaces during Bharat Jodo Yatra, photo of mother-son bond breaks internet

Pandavapura: The bond between mother and son was evident when Rahul Gandhi bent down to tie his mother Sonia Gandhi’s shoelaces as she joined the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra in Karnataka on Thursday. The pleasant spot where Rahul Gandhi tied congress president Sonia Gandhi’s shoelaces during the Bharat Jodo Yatra was seen by top congress leaders and hundreds of party employees who attended.

The moment was also caught on camera and is widely shared on the internet with netizens praising the strong mother-son bond. The viral photo shows the former president of Congress gently trying on his mother’s laces, while others stand still to witness the mother-son moment.

To cheers and slogans from party employees, Sonia Gandhi walked a few kilometers alongside her son Rahul Gandhi and other leaders in Karnataka’s Mandya district. And there were several Kodak moments.

“We have weathered many storms and will overcome all challenges. Together we will unite India,” Rahul Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi, posting a photo of him walking with his mother, his arm around her.

The convention also posted a photo of mother and son. “Those protected by love are not afraid of anything! On the road, marching forward,” it said on Twitter.

Another message from the party simply said “Ma” with a heart and the photo of Rahul Gandhi tying Sonia Gandhi’s shoelaces. The photo prompted Congress leader Shashi Tharoor to post a message in Hindi that read: “There are blessings, even when she breathes, no one can replace a mother as mothers are mothers.”

Sonia Gandhi, 75, joined the Bharat Jodo Yatra here on the 27th day and walked for about half an hour. She was supposed to walk a short distance, but she went on longer and refused to turn back.

At one point, the president of Congress was seen walking with a small child holding Rahul Gandhi’s hand. In another, a young girl, her hair braided with flowers, crossed a rope barricade to meet the two convention leaders. Sonia Gandhi was only supposed to be in the yatra for half an hour, but stayed for a few hours and left for Delhi in the evening.

This is Sonia Gandhi’s first time participating in a public event after recovering from COVID-19 earlier this year. The last time she participated in a roadshow was in August 2016 in Varanasi, where she suffered a shoulder injury and later underwent surgery.
