SGPC blames the government for adopting biased standards

Amritsar: While protesting the Supreme Court (SC) decision validating the Haryana Sikh Gurdwaras (Management Act) 2014, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) demanded the bill’s annulment and accused the government of taking a biased stance to take on this matter. There is a biased stance on the issue of HSGMC law, according to the Punjab Reorganization Act, 1966, the Sikh Gurdwaras Act, 1925, has become an interstate body, so any amendment in it can only be made by the Central Government with the recommendation of SGPC. But the rules are being deliberately violated to form a separate Haryana Gurdwara Management Committee,” SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami said on Tuesday.

Dhami led a protest march from the Golden Temple to Deputy Commissioner Harpreet Sudan’s office and handed him a memorandum.

While claiming that Congress had tried to weaken Sikh power from the start, he claimed that the BJP was now also following the same path, carrying out conspiracies to suppress minority Sikhs, adding that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also worked the same way.

Dhami further claimed that in accordance with the Hindu Rashtra agenda of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), his head Mohan Bhagwat reportedly named every resident of India as Hindu, but the governments were silent on the matter. He said that governments should not be representative of any particular ideology, but should give importance to every community living in the country and especially to the minorities.

While stating that the Sikh path had sounded the horn of the struggle against power determined to break SGPC, he said: “On October 7, 2022, the protest march will start from Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Sri Anandpur Sahib, Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Talwandi Sabo and Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Ambala, and will reach Akal Takht Sahib, where prayer will be held for the success of the battle”.
