‘Soon central authorities will pull you out of your house with your ears’: Mamata Banerjee warns BJP


New Delhi: The chief minister of Bengal and the head of the Trinamool Congress, Mamata Banerjee, launched another scathing attack on the BJP on Thursday, accusing it of abusing government agencies. She said this during a speech at a Trinamool-organized function of Durga Puja Vijaya Milan in her constituency in Kolkata’s Bhawanipur. She urged the BJP to be prepared. On the occasion, Mamata also mentioned the BJP and strongly condemned it for its behavior. She quotes: “Today you are in power and showing off your central agencies. Tomorrow, if you’re not in power, these central agencies will invade your home and pull you out with your ears. That day will soon come.”

On October 11, the Bankshall Trinamool Congress court sentenced MLA Manik Bhattacharya to 14 days in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate. After being questioned overnight by ED officials, Bhattacharya was arrested in connection with the teacher recruitment scam in West Bengal. The Central Bureau of Investigation has previously indicted Anubrata Mondal, leader of the Trinamool Congress, in a cattle smuggling case before the CBI Special Court in Asansol.

Manik Bhattacharya, the former chairman of the West Bengal Board of Primary Education, Manik Bhattacharya, was taken to court and workers from the Bharatiya Janata Party were seen wearing slippers and hanging up the slogans of ‘Chor Chor’.

Trinamool Congress MLA Manik Bhattacharya’s Case

Manik is a member of the Palashipara constituency. The ED has been investigating the recruitment scams of teachers in West Bengal and had previously summoned Bhattacharya. According to the court, Manik Bhattacharya’s provisional protection will be extended until further injunctions are issued. The court had ordered him to assist the investigative agency. Earlier in the SSC (School Service Commission) scam, the ED arrested the then Industry Minister of West Bengal and former Education Minister Partha Chatterjee and his close assistant Arpita Mukherjee.

Trinamool Congress Leader Anubrata Mondal’s Case

According to the CBI, further investigation into the current case revealed that the prime suspect in the conspiracy, along with other suspects, ran the cattle smuggling racket smoothly from procurement to transportation across the international border. According to the allegations, another suspect, Mohammad Enamul Haque, paid large sums of money to Anubrata Mondal through other accused. Between 2014 and 2018, Anubrata Mondal is said to have built up huge real estate positions in and around Bolpur and Kolkata with illegal money obtained from cattle smuggling in and around Bolpur and Kolkata on behalf of himself and his relatives.
