Thief Snatches Phone From Woman’s Hand, Is Tracked By SMARTWATCH — Know How

New Delhi: People today are very tech-savvy and often use devices such as smartwatches. A woman from Gurgaon recently used her smartwatch to track the person who stole her phone. While she was shopping, her smartphone was stolen.

On August 28 at around 6 am, Pallavi Kaushik, 28, a resident of Palam Vihar Sector 28, was doing her shopping at Huda market. She was making a UPI payment at a store when a man looked over her shoulder from behind. He picked up the phone and ran. According to the FIR, Kaushik issued a public warning, but no bystanders responded to the circumstance. She chased him for a while, but he managed to escape. That’s when Kaushik started using her smartwatch to locate the phone. When the smartphone came within the radius, the smartwatch beeps to let the wearer know. After nearly three hours of roaming around and tracking the phone, Kaushik ran into the burglar who used her phone while on a motorcycle. As you know, most smartwatches available today have a feature called “Find My Phone” that allows users to locate a paired smartphone in the event that it gets lost.

She ran up to the man and immediately hit him on the head. The man allegedly fled, but as he hurried, he dropped the phone. Kaushik recovered her smartphone, but unfortunately the thief had already used her UPI PIN to transfer Rs 50,865 from her bank account to other accounts.
