‘Told Naveen I don’t care about the result’: Krishan Hooda on how Dabang Delhi got a thrilling win over UP Yoddha

Defending champion Dabang Delhi kicked off their Pro Kabaddi campaign in 2022 with a bang, beating UP Yoddhas 44-42 in a thriller of a Bengaluru encounter. Delhi fought back from a 19-25 deficit at halftime to take the win and their captains Naveen Kumar and Manjeet played an integral part.

Naveen led from the front, scoring 13 points and finishing as the team’s highest scorer, while Manjeet had 12 to his credit. After the game, Coach Krishan Hooda revealed that he had tried to take the pressure off the scorecard on the team. “I told Naveen that I don’t care about the result at halftime,” Hooda said.

“This is a league game. So I told him to show his best game and work hard. I knew we would win the game. The huge support from the fans also helped us during our game. Naveen is with us , so clearly the fans will be on our side,” he said.

Key behind Delhi’s successful run so far has been their star campaigner Naveen, who has once again enchanted fans with his heist skills during the match. A highlight of the match was Naveen dodging a tackle with a stunning jump over a defender.

The incident took place during the second half of the match, when Delhi trailed 30-34 in the match. The defender, who dived right into Naveen to get a grip on his knees, couldn’t even get his fingers on the robber. The move made Naveen somersault past him and returned to half of Delhi without a hitch.
