Turkish Airlines Istanbul-Singapore flight makes emergency landing in Kolkata after passenger falls ill


A Turkish Airlines plane flying from Istanbul to Singapore made an emergency landing at Kolkata airport on Thursday after a 69-year-old passenger became seriously ill in the air, an official here said.

The elderly passenger had convulsions and was bleeding from nose and mouth, the official said.

The pilot of Turkish Airlines flight TK-054 saw his condition and decided to make an emergency landing at NSC Bose International Airport in Kolkata.

After air traffic control approval, the flight landed at 11:45 a.m.

The sick passenger was initially treated at the airport and was later taken to a hospital, the official said.

The plane with all other passengers resumed its journey at 2:52 p.m., he said.
