New Delhi: The deadly bowling of Kashmir-born Umran Malik was the highlight of the first day of the five-day Irani Trophy match between Saurashtra Cricket Association and Rest of India (ROI), which kicked off in Rajkot on Saturday. There was no better time for Umran to deliver a stunning bowling performance as several media reports suggested that BCCI has decided to replace the injured Jasprit Bumrah with another pacesetter in the Indian T20 World Cup team.

The Indian team is reportedly set to arrive in Australia on October 6 for World Cup T20 2022. India’s first stop is Perth, where a week-long camp will be held. The team then travels to Brisbane.

Umran Malik didn’t let voters down as he had a dream day bowling against Saurashtra on the first day of the Irani Trophy. Sensational bowling spells from Bengali Mukesh Kumar (four wicket haul), Umran Malik (3 wickets) and Kuldeep Sen (3 wickets). The rest of India (ROI) batters took advantage of their team’s bowling performance and finished Day 1’s game with a 1 point lead.

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 proved to be a breakthrough season for Sunrisers Hyderabad speedster Umran Malik. The young pace bowler from Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) threw extremely well, taking 22 wickets to earn his first call-up to the T20 International series of five matches between India and South Africa.

In an exclusive interview with the Indian Express, Umran Malik recalled his childhood when he shared what drove him to achieve such a fast pace.

Umran told the Indian Express: “I loved fast bowling from the beginning. When I was young I played with a plastic ball at home and was scolded for breaking glass windows. But even then my mother didn’t stop me. to play and she said ‘khel, tod’ (Play, break).”
