Vande Bharat Express Una-Delhi Inaugurated: Now Travel Delhi-Chandigarh in Less Than 3 Hours

During the Independence Day speech last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced 75 Vande Bharat trains that will connect to all parts of the country by August 2022. As part of this series of 75 Vande Bharat Express trains, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has the 4th such trains to run between New Delhi and Amb Andaura. Well, it should be noted that the new train makes the journey from Delhi to Chandigarh less than 3 hours. This journey with the Shatabdi Express has taken about 3 hours and 30 minutes so far, although it does go at a speed of 120 km/h. The Vande Bharat, on the other hand, reduces travel with its top speed of 160 km/h.

At the inauguration of the 4th Vande Bharat Express, Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw revealed that the tested speed of this train is 180 km/h. He added: “If the tracks are upgraded in the coming days, we will increase the speed to 220-250 KMPH.”

Features of Vande Bharat Express Train

The introduction of the train will boost tourism in the region and provide a more comfortable and faster way to travel. The travel time from Una to New Delhi is reduced by two hours. It is also worth noting that the upgraded Vande Bharat Express will weigh 392 tons compared to the previous version of 430 tons. It will also have an on-demand facility for Wi-Fi content. Each coach has 32″ screens with passenger information and infotainment, compared to 24″ in the previous version.

Vande Bharat Express will also be environmentally friendly, as the air conditioners will be 15 percent more energy efficient. With dust-free clean air cooling of the traction motor, traveling becomes more comfortable. A side recliner that was previously only for Executive Class passengers is now made available for all classes. Executive Coaches have the added feature of 180 degree rotating seats. In the new design of Vande Bharat Express, a photocatalytic ultraviolet air purification system is installed in the Roof-Mounted Package Unit (RMPU) for air purification.

As recommended by the Central Scientific Instruments Organization (CSIO), Chandigarh, this system is designed and installed at both ends of the RMPU to filter and purify the air, free from germs, bacteria, viruses, etc., which can pass through the fresh air and return air. The Vande Bharat Express 2.0 offers a host of superior and airplane-like travel experiences. It is equipped with advanced state-of-the-art safety features, including a domestically developed train collision avoidance system – KAVACH.
