‘Why only kneel? Just to convey that I am humble like Ashok Gehlot?’: Rajasthan CM’s swipe at PM Modi

New Delhi: A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi apologized and knelt before the rally in Rajasthan’s Sirohi district for not being able to address them, Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Saturday (October 1, 2022) that he wanted to appear more humble than him. During a dig in Modi, Gehlot said that instead of displaying such antiques, he should give the message of brotherhood and love to the people of the land.

The Prime Minister was supposed to address a meeting on Abu Road, but did not speak about it because he arrived late at the venue and said he had to abide by loudspeaker rules. He then apologized and knelt three times before the meeting.

“He (Modi) knows that Ashok Gehlot in Rajasthan has the image of a very humble man… A simple man. This has been my image since childhood. How will Modi ji fight this? He wanted to appear more humble than me,” said closed.

The prime minister said that Modi was not only humble but should also give the message of brotherhood and love to the compatriots.

“But he doesn’t give this message. He doesn’t follow my advice. And what do you want to convey by kneeling three times?’ added the congressional leader.

He said that if Modi had appealed to the people to spread harmony, he would have called the prime minister and congratulated him.

‘Why only kneel? Just to show that I’m humble too, like Ashok Gehlot?’ he said.

Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Modi promised the meeting that he will come back to Sirohi.

‘I came late. It’s 10 p.m. My conscience tells me to follow the rules and regulations. So my apologies to you,” Modi said without a microphone and speaker.

“But I want to promise you that I will come here again and repay with interest the love and affection you have given me,” he added.
