‘Will be appointed unopposed’ – Rajeev Shukla speaks for Roger Binny, Jay Shah and himself

BCCI office holders: Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly will not return as BCCI president for a second term. BCCI VP Rajeev Shukla confirmed on Tuesday that Roger Binny has submitted his nomination for the position of president for the upcoming BCCI polls. He added that all nominations submitted today for BCCI office holder positions “will be appointed unanimously”.

“I have submitted a nomination for vice president position, Roger Binny has submitted a nomination for president, Jay Shah has applied for secretary and Ashish Shelar for treasurer,” Rajeev Shukla told ANI. “From now on, the situation is that everyone will be appointed without opposition,” he said.

Roger Binny, slated to become the next BCCI chief, has served as the senior national men’s team selector in the past. He was on the selection committee when the roster for the 2015 Cricket World Cup was chosen. Binny, who played an integral part in India’s 1983 World Cup triumph, played 27 Tests and 72 ODIs for India between 1979 and 1987.

The BCCI AGM will take place on October 18 and the polls will be held on that day.

The date for nominations for office holders can be submitted today and tomorrow. Nominations will be screened on October 13 and candidates can withdraw their nomination by October 14 at the latest.
